Prologue Picture is a renowned title sequence and visual effects production company based in Los Angeles. Prologue hired Casey Hughes Architects to design a creative office space for them in an industrial building located it the heart of Hollywood.
We designed the office configuration so that individual offices are arrayed around a large communal workspace with custom desks that can be reconfigured. The client requested that the space is open and can be easily reconfigured to accommodate the needs of the various project teams.

We designed a modular desk system which we call Tanagram after the game where elementary shapes are combined to produce a wide variety of silhouettes. The Tanagram desk system can be arranged to produce a wide variety of seating arrangements, each enabling a unique for of collaboration.

We also designed a freestanding "war room" within this central space for meeting and work sessions. The translucent facade provides a level of privacy without isolating the space from the office. Activity within the space animates the translucent facade with color.

Chimney-like openings ventilate the War Room and allow additional light in from above.
The War Room inhabits a scale between furniture and architecture. Shelves are integrated into the facade which take advantage of the ribbed construction system while large openings at the ceiling allow natural light to steam in from the office's many skylights.

The War Room is constructed from a series of plywood ribs that are computer milled to increase material efficiency and reduce labor. Once the structure has been assembled, translucent polycarbonate panels are then slotted between the ribs to form the translucent facade.
